Connect Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations with Power BI via OData

In the world beautiful and graphical reports, Power is one of the software data analyst use.

Luckily, we can easily connect Dynamics Finance and Operations with Power BI via Odata. This data as is can be used or transformed with Power Query.

 

What’s OData

OData is a standard protocol for creating and consuming data. The purpose of OData is to provide a protocol that is based on Representational State Transfer (REST) for create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) operations. OData applies web technologies such as HTTP and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) to provide access to information from various programs.

Connect to Power BI Desktop

On the Power BI Desktop, click on “Get Data” -> More.

 

Click Online Services ->

 

 

Input the url/data

 

 

In the OData feed window, you will select “Organizational account” in the left pane. You will have to “Sign in” using your Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations credentials:

Once you are signed in, click connect
